Jim Wileman: The Wedding Photographer Who Makes Everyone Relax

Jim Wileman has been shooting weddings at Millbrook since the very beginning — he even photographed Kate and Bob's own wedding. Here's why we recommend him to every single couple who comes our way.

Part of the Millbrook Family

Based in: North Devon  |  Style: Relaxed, informal, editorial  |  Website: jimwileman.photoshelter.com

Here at Millbrook, we're lucky to work with some truly talented and wonderful people — and Jim Wileman is at the top of that list. Jim has been our go-to wedding photographer since we first started offering weddings here at Millbrook, and we honestly couldn't imagine it without him.

I should be upfront: this is personal. Jim photographed mine and Bob's own wedding here at Millbrook, and later our children's naming day. So when I say he's part of the Millbrook family, I really mean it.

An Editorial Eye, a Human Touch

Jim is an experienced freelance photographer and videographer based in North Devon, but his work takes him across the West Country and far beyond. He shoots portraits and features for some of the biggest names in print — including The Times, The Guardian, the FT and The Independent — so when it comes to capturing people naturally and authentically, he really knows what he's doing.

That editorial eye is exactly what makes him such a brilliant wedding photographer. He's not staging anything or directing anyone into awkward poses. He's watching, waiting and capturing what's actually there — the real moments, the real emotions. The result is images that feel genuinely alive.

Perfect for People Who Hate Having Their Photo Taken

One of the things couples tell us again and again is that they were dreading the photography. Having a camera in your face on an already emotional day isn't everyone's idea of fun — and we get that completely. It's one of the main reasons we're so glad to have Jim.

He has a calmness and warmth about him that instantly puts people at ease. He's discreet, unobtrusive, and never pushy. Most couples barely notice he's there — and that's exactly the point. The photos tell a different story, but in the best possible way.

Here's what one of our recent couples had to say:

"I absolutely hate having my photo taken and was dreading it quite a lot, but Jim was so discreet and not pushy at all, which was a massive help. He's been very easy to deal with, and was brilliant with our dog. He really helped to keep the day relaxed. We can't recommend Jim enough!"

Brilliant with dogs, too. Always a bonus.

Why We Recommend Jim to Every Couple

We've worked with Jim long enough to know he's reliably brilliant. He's easy to deal with, professional, and genuinely lovely to have around on a wedding day. He doesn't add stress — he quietly absorbs it.

That's not something you can always guarantee with a photographer. The day is already full of emotion and logistics, and the last thing you need is someone adding pressure. Jim does the opposite. He just gets on with it, beautifully, and leaves couples with images they'll treasure for ever.

If you're planning your wedding at Millbrook and would like to work with Jim, get in touch with us and we'll be happy to put you in contact with him directly.
