Meet Kate & Bob – The Couple Behind Millbrook Estate Elopements
Hello, I’m Kate — Creative Director here at Millbrook Estate — and together with my husband Bob, I’ve been lucky enough to call this magical corner of Devon home since 2005. We live right here on the estate with our two wonderful kids, Iszi and Louie, our dog Ruby, and our three mischievous cats: Ronnie, Frankie and Lola. It’s a busy, slightly chaotic household… and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
How Our Elopement Story Began
Back in 2010, Bob and I got married in Millbrook’s Summer House. It was quiet, personal, romantic, and absolutely perfect for us — no fuss, no pressure.
That day changed everything.
In 2011, we launched Millbrook as one of the first dedicated elopement wedding venues in the UK. Hardly anyone was offering intimate weddings at the time — we weren’t following a trend, we were unintentionally starting one. We simply loved the idea of giving other couples the same peaceful, meaningful experience we had.
Why We Love Elopements
Since those early days, we’ve helped thousands of couples escape to Devon for heartfelt, relaxed, beautiful weddings.
We’ve stood in sideways rain, bright sunshine, winter frost, summer heat and autumn mist — and every ceremony has still felt special.
We adore elopements because they strip away all the stress and leave only what matters most: two people, in love, choosing each other.
It never stops being magical.
Our Background (And Why It Helps!)
Before Millbrook became our full-time world, I worked in IT and customer services, and Bob worked in telecoms and customer services. We’ve always been natural problem-solvers who genuinely enjoy helping people.
Bob is especially brilliant at supporting couples who want to get married quickly — he seems to have a superpower for navigating timelines and smoothing out tricky logistics.
ADHD runs strongly in our family (our son has a diagnosis, and both Bob and I show very familiar traits). It means we’re flexible, understanding, calm in chaos and brilliant at supporting neurodivergent couples who need a relaxed, no-pressure environment.
Life at Millbrook
Millbrook isn’t just a business. It’s our home, our life, and something we pour our hearts into every single day.
We know every nook of the estate — the quiet trails, the wildflowers, the best light, the warmest corners, and of course, the alpacas with the biggest personalities you’ll ever meet.
We’re lucky to have an amazing small team who feel like family. Together, we make sure every couple who arrives feels welcome, at ease and genuinely looked after.
Why We Love North Devon
North Devon isn’t just where we live — it’s part of who we are. After nearly two decades here, we know every hidden lane, woodland trail, wild swimming spot, tucked-away beach and cosy country pub serving Gluten Free food.
Couples often tell us that one of the best parts of eloping to Millbrook is discovering this beautiful corner of the world. Whether you stay in one of our
luxury Millbrook Cottages, celebrate at
Tree Top Escape, or enjoy a village getaway at
Rose Cottage Devon, you're perfectly placed to explore everything North Devon has to offer.
From dramatic coastline and moorland to artisan food, quaint towns and peaceful walking routes, it’s the kind of place that instantly slows you down — and makes every wedding, mini-moon or holiday stay feel extra special.
What Matters Most to Us
We believe weddings should feel peaceful, personal, private, unhurried, stress-free and nature-filled.
No conveyor belts. No production lines. No rushing you through.
Just a beautiful place where you can focus entirely on each other.
That’s why we do what we do. It’s woven into every part of Millbrook.
